The government is engaged in discussions to further liberalise foreign direct investment (FDI) rules, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Friday.

Policymakers have long grappled with opening up more sectors such as multi-brand retail and insurance and banking. Last month, the government warned of a slowdown in foreign investment, and called for liberalising reforms.
