Episode 3 of “Grey’s Anatomy” had fans – us included – in tears with its heart-wrenching plot. But, according to the Season 12 synopsis of episode 4, titled “Old Time Rock’ N Roll,” the upcoming installment will surely have fans in stitches as the series brings back it’s Season 1 humor.

That’s right, the writers of the hit ABC medical drama are dipping into the volt and conjuring up a steamy romance between a veteran surgeon and an intern.

In episode 3, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) was made uncomfortably aware of her single status when she received a wedding invitation from her ex-boyfriend. This caused the Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery to, well… freak out a lot. She went on a rant about extraterrestrials and space, telling her sisters how she felt like an outsider on this strange planet (Seattle) full of bizarre aliens (them).

So, Maggie decided to swallow her sorrows away at a bar where Grey Sloan’s hot new intern, Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti), was also looking for liquid comfort after his emotionally draining day. A few shots later, the two ended up back at Maggie’s place, which is where Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) will them the following morning in episode 4.

“Well…” Amelia says to Andrew in the promo video as she spots him attempting to clothe himself while walking out of Maggie’s bedroom.

Maggie’s scandalous rendezvous will result in her asking Mer (Ellen Pompeo) for some sisterly advice:

“Who does that? Who screws the intern?” Maggie asks. “The father of my children,” Meredith replies with a quip.

But the sister’s will have bigger problems on their plate when they forget to plan a dinner party that they’re hosting for everyone, the summary continues.

Meanwhile in episode 4, Owen (Kevin McKidd) will have his hands full with the interns as he teaches them a “vital lesson on how to break bad news to patient’s families.” As Owen takes the newbies under his lab coat sleeve, Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) will spend some quality time with her 90-year-old patient who is “destined to find love again.” (Hopefully some of her romanticism can rub off on Japril [Jackson Williams/SarahDrew] who dicussed the possibility of divorce in episode 3.)

“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
