Buckle up, “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. Thursday’s episode is going to be an emotional rollercoaster.

Season 13, episode 16 of the ABC medical drama will focus exclusively on Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew). The co-parenting exes will travel together to Montana in “Who is He (And What Is He To You)?” to tackle a difficult case. According to the synopsis, Jackson’s head won’t be in the game and April will have to step in and help refocus him.

“Jackson and April travel to Montana in order to perform a complicated surgery on a young patient, but Jackson’s mind is elsewhere, and April is forced to step up and get him back on track,” the network teases.

A preview clip for the episode suggests Jackson’s distraction is his father. Based on the sneak-peek video, which you can find below, the doctor’s dad lives in Montana. He and April pay him a visit, though it’s clear Jackson’s reluctant to speak with his absentee parent.

Drew teased episode 16, directed by “Grey’s Anatomy” co-star Kevin McKidd, ahead of the season premiere. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she promised it will be “a real turning point” for April and Jackson. The pair have been in an awkward place since their split, but it seems that may change.

“I can tease that there’s a real turning point that happens for the two of them,” she said. “They’re forced to be in the same space working together with no distraction outside of the norm, outside of anybody that they know, outside of any of the history. They’re going through something pretty big. They don’t start off in the best place when we find them on the journey.”

Tune in to “Grey’s Anatomy” Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
