MIAMI (Commodity Online) : Oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico, the worst ever oil disaster in the US has nearly tripled in size over a one-month period.

According to a study reports by scientists at the University of Miami shows the oil slick's surface area now stretches across 24,435 square kilometers.

Scientists at the University of Miami's Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing (CSTARS) analyzed a set of three satellite images collected during a 12-hour period from late Tuesday to early Wednesday to prepare the report.
