Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are one step closer to finalizing their divorce. With no prenuptial agreement in place things could have gotten ugly between the exes, however the former Bush front man went easy on his now-estranged wife.

According to TMZ, Rossdale was entitled to half of everything he and Stefani, 46, acquired during their 13-year marriage. He instead agreed to split things in his former wife’s favor. Rossdale, 50, is said to have agreed to split a property they purchased during their marriage in Stefani’s favor and asked for only a small percentage of the money she made from concerts and record sales. They have also decided to share custody of their three children — Kingston, Zuma and Apollo Rossdale — although TMZ reports that Rossdale will likely have them more due to their mother’s hectic tour schedule. The British-born musician will be receiving child support from his ex, but is said to have agreed to accept a smaller sum than he could have sought.

Stefani opened up about her divorce during an interview with PrideSource, released March 25. In it, she called the demise of their relationship “the worst thing” aside from death. The Grammy award-winner explained to the publication that she'd had this vision of what her life would be like from a young age. That picturesque dream was shattered the moment she realized that despite her best efforts to save it, her marriage to Rossdale was over.

“My whole life all I wanted to do was be a mother and a wife, and I had the dream of having this family because that’s what I had,” she said. “I have parents who’ve been married since high school, who are in love, and they’re still in love. ... I had a perfect example, so it’s super tragic for me. My dreams are shattered and I feel so embarrassed about what happened.”

While things with Rossdale did not work out, Stefani was able to find love again. She and fellow host on NBC’s “The Voice” Blake Shelton have been dating for several months. In a March interview with Refinery29 Stefani opened up about how the pair first connected. She revealed to readers that the fact that they were both going through divorces at the same time helped them find common ground, pushing their relationship from friendly to romantic. She added that finding Shelton during that difficult time “saved” her.

All the necessary divorce documents have been submitted to the courts. TMZ reports that they are awaiting a judge’s signature, which will put an end to their marriage once and for all.
