Morena Baccarin’s “Gotham” character is just starting a relationship with Jim Gordon, but in real life, her marriage is ending. The “Homeland” actress is divorcing her husband of four years, director Austin Chick, TMZ reports. Chick filed to officially split and the paperwork has revealed a few details about their separation:

Joint Custody – Baccarin gave birth to her son, Julius, on Oct. 22, 2013, Us Weekly reports. He is their only child, and Chick requested that they share custody of the 1-year old.

Three And A Half Years – It wasn’t exactly Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s decade long-marriage. Chick and Baccarin were married during Thanksgiving of 2011. This November would have been their fourth wedding anniversary.

Irreconcilable Differences – The couple listed "irreconcilable differences" as their reason for splitting up. Baccarin, 36, never told the media that her marriage was in trouble, but she was clear that it was hard for them to make their marriage work, especially when she was away filming.

“You have to talk…a lot. Which guys love,” the “Firefly” actress told the Daily Mail in 2012. “You have to keep checking in, being aware of what is happening in each other’s worlds, otherwise you miss things, and then it becomes very hard to go back and connect the dots.”

Spousal Support – The details of their split have yet to be finalized, but Chick reportedly requested spousal support. This isn’t exactly surprising when looking at their IMDb pages. Chick is a director with three credits to his name, while Baccarin has racked up more than 40 roles in the last 15 years. From cult classics like “Firefly” to mainstream, Emmy-nominated shows like “Homeland,” it’s clear that Baccarin works in Hollywood more than her ex.
