Honey Boo Boo
The television landscape is about the change. TLC is debuting its latest horror show, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” to the general public tonight at ten p.m. Wiki

Could Alana "Honey Boo Boo" be America's next Shirley Temple?

TLC is premiering "Honey Boo Boo," a reality show that follows "Toddlers in Tiaras" breakout star Alana Thompson. The 6-year-old is known for being outspoken and saying things like "a dolla makes me holla," making her adorable yet disturbing. Whether people find her funny or unfortunate, most feel compelled to watch her -- which invites the question, even if it's quite far removed, is Alana "Honey Boo Boo" the Shirley Temple of our generation?

Even the thought of comparing the two might be offensive to some considering that Alana is not even an actress, but she's a child star who is being recognized and there probably aren't any other 6-year-olds out there with their own television shows.

In the promo video that TLC put out for the show, she starts off by saying, "I'm Alana, I'm six and I'm a beauty queen." Midway through the sentence she turns on her Southern sass and draws out beauty queen. From there on out, it would be almost impossible to not watch the rest of the clip.

She practically screams, "I want to win the biggest trophy with a lot of money!"

Alana's mother, June Thompson, has been questioned about the way she is raising her daughter after she was filmed fueling her daughter with Pixie Sticks and "go-go juice" (Mountain Dew) before pageants. There's that and the fact that she is places her daughter in a pageant to make money, but "a dolla makes Alana holla," so it must be okay, right?

When one of the other young contestants who's performing in the pageant with Alana asks her who does she think will win "Honey Boo Boo" responds, "Me. I'm going to win the whole pageant."

Then TLC cuts to a clip of the child saying, "Those other girls must be crazy if they think they're going to beat me Honey Boo Boo child."

While being in pageants clearly has done nothing for Alana's grammar, it seems to have boosted "Honey Boo Boo's" self-esteem. She seems to love the attention and puts on a happy face, at least for the cameras.

She's said on the TLC show, "I'm all that and a pack of crackers, okay?"

Alana is a young girl with blond curly hair that has been put on television to make people laugh; does that make her a modern- day Shirley Temple too?
