House Rep. Charles Rangel, D-NY has a message for scandal-ridden Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-NY: You've got a friend in me.

Rangel said things could be a lot worse for the Congressman. Weiner's congressional colleague has had his own House ethics probe and received funds for his legal defense from Weiner.

I know one thing: He wasn't going out with prostitutes, he wasn't going out with little boys, he wasn't going into men's rooms with broad stances, Rangel said at City Hall this morning, referencing other Congressional sex scandals. All of those things I understand.

Certainly I know immoral sex when I hear it from other (House) members and no one has screamed for their resignation, so I don't know why they're selecting Anthony, Rangel said.

Rangel, who was defiant after being found guilty of 11 counts of violating House ethics rules, and consequently censured by the House last year, the Post reports, said there was no need for Weiner to succumb to demands and resign.

Of course not, he said. Not one person has given any reason for resignation. The whole idea of resignation is something that's hyped up by the press more than his ability to serve.

Weiner admitted in a news conference on Monday that he sent lewd pictures and messages online to six different women over the last three years.
