“How I Met Your Mother” is preparing to wrap up all its loose ends as the series comes to a close … including the “Slapsgiving” saga.

For those that are unfamiliar with “Slapsgiving,” it was an episode that aired during season 3 in 2007 but stems from the season 2 episode, “Slap Bet.” Marshall and Barney made a slap bet before Robin’s identity as “Robin Sparkles” emerged with the “Let’s Go To The Mall” video. Barney believed that Robin had done porn when she was younger, and the gang agrees to a slap bat to see who was right -- allowing the winner to hit the loser as hard as he possibly can.

Barney ended up being wrong and Marshall won the right to slap Barney five times without warning and without an expiration date. Marshall’s number rose to eight when Barney refused to wear a “ducky tie.”

So far Marshall has only slapped Barney six times -- once during “Slap Bet” in season 2, once during “Stuff” in season 2, once during “Slapsgiving” in season 3, once during “Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap” in season 5 and twice during “Disaster Averted” in season 7.

Thanks to www.TheSlapBetCountdown.com, “How I Met Your Mother” fans know that slap number seven is set to arrive on Jan. 13, 2014. As we previously reported, the upcoming slap is slated to air during episode 14, “Slapsgiving 3.”

Unfortunately an episode synopsis for “Slapsgiving 3” has yet to be released, but “How I Met Your Mother” co-creator Craig Thomas did tweet the following teaser for fans:

It's unconfirmed if the eighth and final slap will also come during "Slapsgiving 3" or if viewers can look forward to another slap by the end of season 9.
