NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): The prices of wheat, rice and sugar remained steady during the last week in India, said state run prices movement observer, the Department of Consumer Affairs on Tuesday.

According to data released by the Department of Consumer Affairs, prices of wheat and rice remained steady at most of the reporting centres. Prices of wheat decreased at Ludhiana and Rajkot and increased at Jammu, Mumbai and Chennai.

Sugar prices declined at Jaipur, Patna, Kolkata, Vijaywada and Dindigul and remained steady at other reporting centres, beside increasing at some centres. Prices of gram dal decreased at Amritsar, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Bangalore and Dindigul.

Prices of tur dal decreased at Ludhiana, Mumbai, Jaipur, Patna, Vijaywada and Bangalore and remained steady at most of other reporting centres. Prices of urad dal remained steady at all the reporting centres except for increase at some centres.

Prices of moong dal decreased at 3 centres and remained steady at most of the other places. Prices of masoor dal decreased at Mumbai, Jaipur and Patna and remained steady at all other reporting centres except Delhi and Kolkata. Prices of edible oils, potato and onion also remained stable at most of the places.

At Delhi, prices of rice, wheat, atta, sugar, milk, edible oils and onion remained steady over the week. Potato became cheaper by Re. 1 while prices of most of the pulses increased by Re. 1 per kg during the week.
