Every progress the jailbreakers are making with the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (A5 devices) is exciting news for the jailbreak community, even though the actual release date is still unknown.
iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd on Tuesday said major progress has been made by the Dream Team of the French hacker pod2g.
MuscleNerd tweeted, props to @saurik for major contributions to the A5 version of @pod2g's untether yesterday! (still no ETA, but moving forward).
At the same time, pod2g also said on his Twitter, And greetings to @planetbeing for the coding + research. Really great stuff to escape from the sandbox.
It seems they have solved sandbox issue or the issue is not an obstacle any more. Earlier, pod2g said Apple sandbox is one of the major difficulties. Apple sandbox is an access control system provided by both OS X and iOS operating systems for executing untested code or untrusted programs from unverified third-parties.
This is a significant move, but not the last, as a lot of work need to be figured out. Early this month, the jailbreak hackers established a dream team. The team members include planetbeing, MuscleNerd and p0sixninja. All of the are the stars in the jailbreak community.
The untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is still in testing phase and can't be released publicly as the exploit pod2g used to inject the untethering files to the 4S relies on having a developer account. Pod2g said this is the same reason why @MuscleNerd has an iPad 2 tethered jailbreak but couldn't distribute it.
Recently, some reports said the untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S has been released by unlockiphone4st.com, but we checked and found you have to pay for downloading. It may be a fake jailbreak as the jailbreak offered by reputed hackers is generally free so far. Previously, reports also said EasyRa1n.com released untethered jailbreak which you need to pay for downloading. Later, it proved to be false. So, you need to be be careful about paying for any charged jailbreak and using it.
