Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has retaliated to the United States’ alleged violation of the nuclear deal by calling on the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran to start planning the development of nuclear marine propulsion on Tuesday.

“Such propulsion would to be in marine transportation,” Rouhani said in a letter published by state news agency IRNA. Nuclear marine propulsion uses a nuclear reactor to generate electricity on a vessel.

Under a 2015 nuclear accord between Iran and six world powers, including the U.S., a number of sanctions against the nation were lifted in exchange for restrictions on the country’s nuclear program.

The U.S., however, maintained a separate set of sanctions, which were to expire at the end of the year. Earlier this month, the Republican-led Senate voted to extend the Iran Sanctions Act by 10 years, which is a breach of trust, according to Iran.
