Police have arrested three people in connection with the alleged murder of Isaac Rinas, the 18-year-old who was shot and killed in Paterson, N.J., June 26 just hours after he graduated from high school.
Authorities have charged 24-year-old Bishma Cowan and 27-year-old Quashon L. Faircloth with murder and robbery in the death of Rinas. Authorities earlier arrested 18-year-old Casey Cole and charged him with felony murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. While Cole is considered a prime suspect in the alleged murder, law enforcement sources confirmed the investigators do not think he was the shooter and that the investigation is still active. Cole was not charged with weapons possession.
According to authorities, Cole and Cowan had prior conversations about arranging for Rinas to be robbed when he came into Paterson.
A press release put out by the Paterson Police Department indicates that Rinas and Cole drove into Paterson on Wednesday night and parked on Fair Street, near 18th Street, a known hub for drug deals and gangs.
While parked in the vicinity of 325 Hamilton Ave., Faircloth entered Rinas' car and robbed him, then ordered him out of the vehicle, investigators say. Rinas was shot one time outside the car, struck on the neck, and died from his injuries. Police have not said who they believe fired the fatal shot.
Family and friends gathered at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home in Wayne Monday to pay tribute to Rinas.
