James Gandolfini’s tragic death rattled his fans, but Hollywood was just as shaken by his untimely passing. Tinseltown bowed its head to pay tribute to the fallen actor who invaded homes and hearts with his iconic Tony Soprano character on the HBO hit show “The Sopranos.”

Just as his fans paid tribute to the 51-year-old New Jersey native, his Hollywood colleagues mourned the loss of the nuanced actor who rose to fame playing the fictional Italian mobster.

His managers Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders confirmed his death in a statement quoted by JustJared: “It is with immense sorrow that we report our client James Gandolfini passed away today while on holiday in Rome, Italy. Our hearts are shattered and we will miss him deeply. He and his family were part of our family for many years and we are all grieving."

Joseph R. Gannascoli, who played Vito on "The Sopranos,” told TMZ: "James is one guy who never turned his back on me. He was the most humble and gifted actor and person I have ever worked with." He added, "He was a great man and I will forever be indebted to him. "

HBO released a statement after the actor’s death, according to ABC News: “We’re all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family,” the statement read. “He was special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect. He touched so many of us over the years with his humor, his warmth and his humility. Our hearts go out to his wife and children during this terrible time. He will be deeply missed by all of us.”

Gandolfini is survived by his wife Deborah Lin who just gave birth to their daughter in October of 2012 and a son that he had from a previous marriage.
