Jane the Virgin
Rogelio Dela Vega (Jaime Camil) will need all the help he can get from his new wife Xo (Andrea Navedo) now that he is going to be a dad to a baby girl in “Jane the Virgin” Season 4. The CW

Rogelio Dela Vega (Jaime Camil) is going to have his hands full in “Jane the Virgin” Season 4 now that he is expecting a child with his former girlfriend, Darci Factor (Justina Mechado).

Rogelio longed to experience fatherhood because he did not see Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) growing up nor did he really play a pivotal role in the life of the twins he raised with his ex wife. He was initially content with becoming a grandfather to Mateo, but life has a way of complicating things for the telenovela star.

Even though having a baby with Darci is what Rogelio wanted and later did not want, in the end she got pregnant. Camil told Elite Daily that Rogelio will definitely be overwhelmed with caring for his daughter (yes, a girl!), so it will be a treat to watch Rogelio struggle with his new responsibilities.

“Season 4 is gonna be a big one for me because, as you saw in the season finale of Season 3, Darci ended up pregnant. So it’s gonna be a fun one for Rogelio. He’s gonna have a kid, a girl, and it’s gonna be messy for him,” he said. “But at the same time any time it gets messy for Rogelio, it gets funny for the audience.”

Meanwhile, show creator Jennie Snyder Urman told Deadline that Rogelio’s new wife, Xo (Andrea Navedo), is going to find it difficult to deal with Darci and their new baby. But the good news is that Rogelio and Xo are determined to make things work for their relationship.

“Well, it’s going to be difficult… for him and for Xiomara and for Darci. They are all part of each others’ lives and there is no love lost at the moment. It’s going to be challenging for all of them,” she said. “Xo and Ro are definitely not going to have the traditional ‘honeymoon period.’ Right away their relationship will be challenged. But they are up for the challenge!”

Urman also told Entertainment Tonight that Rogelio and Xo are going to deal with “a lot of story potential, a lot of conflict, but also a lot of real obstacles.”

“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 will return on Oct. 13. at 9 p.m. EST.
