You may not know him by name, but quasi newcomer--Hit-Boy, has been the brain behind many musical operations. He produced beats for the track "Stronger" for Mary J. Blige, "Froze" for Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Eminem's "Drop the World" and now, he has lent an ear to Jay Z and Kanye West's "N---as in Paris." As part of their "Watch the Throne" album, working on this track is a huge accomplishment for Hit-Boy.
"To do a beat on this album is definitely a dream come true," he said. "Just for me to work with them period, but this album is really just a staple. This is something that's gonna be forever."
The song, "N---as in Paris" was actually recorded in Paris. Unfortunately, Hit-Boy could not make it to the session but was sure to send his beats.
" 'N----as in Paris' came about from me having a beat idea already. When I went to New York, I just further went into it," he said to Mixtape Daily. "It was just a batch of beats. Kanye asked me for some beats, and that was one of the beats I gave him."
Producers Yeezy and Hov worked with the files that contained the fresh, new beats. "That particular beat was just energetic," Hit-Boy added about the track. "It's something that can be played in the club, it's something that can be played on radio. It's a more of a fun type record. Just different flows, the way that they rode the beat, it's just new, it's fresh."
The whole album is the product of true collaboration between Roc-A-Fella / Def Jam Recordings / Roc Nation album and was recorded all around the world in over one year. Obviously, details on the album have been kept under wraps, but those who have heard a bit of the tracks say that it is a "masterpiece." Featured vocals include Jay-Z's wife and hip hop diva--Beyonce, Frank Ocean, Curtis Mayfield, and Mr. Hudson. "Since the track's release [first single of the album, "Otis"], the flood of praise for the track has been nothing short of deafening," read an article on the Wall Street Journal.
"My hope this album causes other artists to push the envelope. This is one of those albums that really brings back that new-car smell to hip-hop," Chuck Creekmur, co-founder/CEO of Allhiphop.com says.
We're sure Hit-Boy and all other hands (and ears) on deck will make this album a true hit!
