After months of parading around with girlfriend and “American Hustle” actress Jennifer Lawrence, actor Nicholas Hoult is speaking out regarding his highly publicized romance with the three-time Oscar nominee and admitting that he feels like a “bystander” in their three-year romance.

In an interview with V Man magazine, due to hit newsstands March 13, Hoult, 24, dished about his union with Lawrence and his position playing second fiddle in their Hollywood romance. “I am just kind of her bystander in many ways,” said Hoult.

So is there trouble in paradise for the “X-Men” co-stars? Despite Hoult’s comments, the actor had nothing but kind words to share about Lawrence, 23, who he claims hasn’t changed despite her rapid rise to fame in recent years. “Enjoy the good times but don’t get swept away with it. … I think that’s something she’s capable of doing and what’s makes her special,” he said, later adding, “It is well-deserved for her. I haven’t really seen any change in her.”

In the revealing interview, which comes just one week after Hoult’s front-row appearance at the 86th annual Academy Awards with Lawrence on March 2, the native U.K. actor also dishes about his love of working with his real-life leading lady on set, most recently starring side-by-side in the upcoming flick, “X-Men: Days of Future Past." "In this business you are away from one each for long periods of time, so when you’re on set together it’s a brilliant thing because you actually get to spend time together,” said Hoult, who according to rumors, rekindled his romance with the Oscar-winner during the film’s production this past spring after a three-month separation.

Hoult last spoke out about Lawrence following her “Best Supporting Actress” win for her role in David O. Russell's film, "American Hustle,” at the 2014 Golden Globes in January. “She deserves it all,” said Hoult, who was famously granted a swift kiss by the award-winning actress before delivering her acceptance speech. “It’s fun to watch,” Hoult later added, regarding Lawrence's large collection of 2014 acting award nominations.

The duo first began dating in 2010, following the filming of the action/adventure feature “X-Men: First Class.” The couple last made headlines after Hoult was cast in the sci-fi film “Equals" alongside “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart. According to a report from ShowbizSpy, Lawrence hasn't been shy when it comes to sharing her disapproval of Hoult’s starring role opposite Stewart, allegedly out of fear that she may prey on her British boy toy. “She doesn’t want to think the worst of Kristen, but her reputation precedes her,” a source revealed, adding, “Considering Kristen’s history with British men, she’s the last person Jennifer wants to see kissing her boyfriend on the set.”
