Steven Spielberg on Friday announced at Comic-Con that Jurassic Park 4 could be ready in the next two or three years,

The big-time producer was at Comic-Con, promoting The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, when Spielberg made public the news of Jurassic 4.

Spielberg will oversee the production as producer, and a story and screenwriter have been found for the next Jurassic Park installment.

Fans buzzed with excitement and have taken to Twitter following the confirmation.

The original Jurassic classic debuted in 1993 based on Michael Crichton's novel, and starred Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill.

The story is about a group of scientists's visit to an amusement park with modern-day dinosaurs brought to life by cloning, which then goes terribly wrong when the giant reptiles escape.

The first Jurassic Park movie earned over $914 million globally, the sequel made $618 million in 1997, and $368 million for the third installment in 2001.
