Justin Timberlake gave one of the best performances in MTV Video Music Awards history Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. He showed Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga that you don’t have to vie for attention during a performance to thoroughly entertain the audience and he thrilled 1990s boy-band fans when *NSync reunited for a quick song.

The 32-year-old started out by singing some of his older hits such as “Rock Your Body” and “Senorita,” to name a few, before he was ultimately joined by his former *NSync bandmates Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick. The highly anticipated reunion brought to their feet fellow VMA nominees such as Taylor Swift and the members of One Direction.

It wasn’t long before Timberlake began to sing alone again. He finished with his hit “Mirrors” before being presented with an award.

Timberlake put on an extended show at the 30th annual VMAs because he was given the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and also nominated for another six awards, which tied him with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

When comedian Jimmy Fallon presented the Moonman, the crowd began to chant, “Justin, Justin, Justin…”

Timberlake humbly responded, “I don’t deserve this award, but I’m not going to give it back.”

“Half of the Moonmen I ever won, I won with those four guys over there,” he said of *NSync, “so above all else I’m going to share this with them. This is truly an honor, thank you so much.” He added that he was going keep it at his house despite sharing the Moonman with his former band members.

Timberlake’s album “The 20/20 Experience” is the best-selling record of the year, and his follow-up, “The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2,” is supposed to drop next month.
