In a new interview, the notorious rapper Kanye West dishes about what it’s like to be in the limelight and how he dealt with the fallout from his infamous incident at the 2009 MTV Music Awards when he drunkenly interrupted Taylor Swift's speech to say that Beyoncé should have won the Best Female Video award instead of the blonde teenager.

The incident went down in pop culture as one of the most outrageous moments at an awards show, and apparently West needed a lot of intimacy and booze to get over it. He told Interview magazine that he turned to "God, sex and alcohol" in the aftermath of the scandal, which was even criticized by President Barack Obama.

Not that he was exactly excusing his antics at the MTV Awards nearly five years ago, but West went on to compare being a celebrity to being an astronaut in space without a space suit. "You know, becoming famous is like being catapulted into space - sometimes without a space suit," the “Bound 2” rapper explained.

But luckily he’s found a companion of equal (or greater) celebrity, reality-TV star Kim Kardashian, one of the most gossiped-about figures in the entertainment industry. “I've got my astronaut family,” he added to the mag. "We've seen so many people combust, suffocate, get lost in all these different things. But [I] have an anchor of other astronauts and [have made] a little space family."

Kardashian recently said she hopes she and West will tie the knot this summer with an "international" wedding. The couple have one child together, 6-month-old North “Nori” West. The ninth season of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” airs on E! every Sunday.
