Kanye West isn’t well known for sharing details about his personal life, marking a significant contrast to reality star Kim Kardashian, “the love of [his] life,” but the rapper did reveal a shocking admission during a recent interview with “W” magazine earlier this month.

While promoting his latest album, “Yeezus,” the 36-year-old performer discussed his 2012 sex tape controversy after a woman claimed she made a home video with the star and threatened to release it. West, who almost released the tape previously in an attempt to combat the extortion threats, said he would prefer to release his own sex tape versus deal with the paparazzi who constantly plague his day-to-day activities with his rumored fianceé, Kim Kardashian, 32.

“For the most part, I’d rather people have one of those home videos than some of the paparazzi photos that get published,” West said. “At least I recorded the s--t myself. That tape couldn’t have hurt me in any way if it came out -- it could only have helped.” The comment rings familiar since Kardashian, who recently gave birth with West to their first child, North West, gained fame after the release of her sex tape with musician "Ray J" in 2007 before she landed a deal with E! to star in the reality series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

While the rapper chose ultimately to not release the footage, West said the possibility of it hitting the Web one day isn’t off the table. “Now, I just do exactly what I want, whenever I want, how the f--k I want. ‘F--k you’ is my message,’” he said.

West’s interview with the magazine previously made headlines after the musician was accused of being uncordial to Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner, on record. According to “W” reporter Christopher Bagley, Jenner’s visit to West’s Parisian pad mid-interview resulted in an uncomfortable encounter, calling the duo’s interaction “equal parks jokey affection and in-law awkwardness.” Jenner, who reportedly complimented her daughter’s other half on his apartment furnishings, was quoted as saying “great job.” In return, she was told told by West, “Great job, Baccarat, for making a glass that can hold liquid!” and “Great job, belt loops, for keeping my pants up!”
