Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran may have split up, but Tran is still showing Brown as much support as possible as he faces a misdemeanor assault charge. She arrived at court in Washington, D.C., alongside Brown’s mother, Joyce Hawkins, for the first day of trial hearings on Friday.

Brown, who was arrested in October, could face four years in prison if the judge decides this incident violates his probation for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. The 24-year-old rapper was hosting a party at the Park at 14th nightclub in Washington prior to his arrest.

Brown was arrested outside the W hotel in Washington after allegedly punching a man in the face who jumped into a picture with him. Two women asked Brown to take a photo while he was in front of the W hotel. He obliged before two men rushed to get into the picture.

The performer, who didn't appear to be under the influence of alcohol, reportedly said, “I’m not into this gay s--t, I’m into boxing,” before punching the victim in the face. The fight allegedly continued on the ground.

In addition to Brown, his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, was also arrested. On Thursday, the alleged victim, Parker Adams, testified against Hollosy. “As I put my dukes up, that's when the bodyguard stepped in between us and he slugged me in the face,” Adams said. Both Hollosy and Brown have pled not guilty.

While in rehab earlier this year for anger management, Brown and Tran split, following an on-and-off again relationship that lasted several years. On March 12, Brown confirmed their split, tweeting to fans, “KAE will always be my heart. That ain’t changing.” Just days prior, Tran had also written a message to fans, stating that she is “not dating anyone.” Yet it is evident she still wants to stand by Brown’s side during this difficult time.
