Katherine Webb gained national attention on Monday night when television cameras caught her in the stands at the BCS National Championship Game. She was rooting on her boyfriend, Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, against Notre Dame.

Now, Webb may be getting even more acclaim.

It appears that McCarron’s girlfriend will be featured in the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. According to Jason McIntyre of The Big Lead, she took to Twitter on Wednesday night to announce her plans to be a part of the magazine.

“It’s official…shooting with Sports Illustrated!” Webb tweeted.

The tweet was deleted soon afterwards. McIntyre speculates that Webb may have gotten a call from someone at Sports Illustrated, telling her to remove the post.

This wouldn’t be Webb’s first introduction to professional modeling. She was named Miss Alabama in 2012. She graduated from Auburn, Alabama’s biggest rival.

Webb was involved in some controversy after she was shown during the title game. ESPN broadcasters Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit joked about how McCarron is lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend.

“I’m tellin ya, you quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women,” Musburger said. “What a beautiful woman. Woah!”

“Wow! AJ’s doing some things right down in Tuscaloosa,” said Herbstreit.

ESPN felt Musburger crossed a line with his comments, and issued an apology because the broadcaster “went too far.”
