American journalist and author Katie Couric has decided to part ways with her boyfriend of five years, Brooks Perlin. According to reports, Perlin is in the process of moving out of Couric's Upper East Side townhouse in New York City.

Couric, 54, an erstwhile television anchor and soon-to-be daytime talk show host, met Perlin, 37, in 2006 at a fundraiser for cancer research -- a cause she has been heavily involved in since the death of her husband, actor and comedian Jay Monahan, of colon cancer in 1998. She has two daughters from her marriage with Monahan - Ellie, 20, and Carrie, 15.

Couric became the sole anchor for the CBS Evening News in 2006 but stepped down this year amid dismal ratings for the program. She will be launching her as yet unnamed talk show in September 2012. Her abiding claim to fame, however, remains her co-anchor role on The Today Show from 1991 to 2006.

Perlin, a triathlete, was partner Keel Capital (investing in alternate energy companies) between 2004 and 2006, before becoming chief financial officer and head of architectural sales for Eco Supply, a New York- and Richmond, Va.-based distributor of environmentally friendly building materials.
