Model, actress and medical student Kennedy Summers has another title to add to her list: The 27-year-old was named Playboy’s 2014 Playmate of the Year Thursday during a cocktail luncheon at the Playboy Mansion.
“As 2014’s Playmate of the Year, my mission is to help Playboy thrive, as it always has, to break boundaries and carry us into the future,” Summers said, according to a Playboy press release announcing the honor. “I couldn’t be more excited!”
As Playboy’s 2014 Playmate of the Year, Summers will receive $100,000 in prize money, an Oris Artelier Date Diamonds watch featuring a multi-piece stainless steel case set with 72 diamonds and a one-year lease on a MINI John Cooper Works Roadster.
The 27-year-old medical student aspires to be a plastic surgeon, she explains on her website. Summers said she never envisioned herself on the pages of Playboy.
"When I went to medical school, I had no idea what the future would hold, but I went with the intention of taking my love for aesthetics and creating works of art through plastic surgery," she said. "I had no idea that three years into medical school, I would become a Playboy Playmate! I feel so blessed and so happy to be part of such an iconic piece of American history!"
Summers graces the cover of Playboy’s June 2014 issue, which hits newsstands Friday, May 23. Behind-the-scenes photos and videos of her shoot with acclaimed fashion photographer Michael Bernard are currently available at playmates.com.
This month’s cover isn’t the first time Summers has appeared in Playboy. The 27-year-old actress and model was the Playmate of the Month in December 2013. She is Playboy’s 55th Playmate of the Year. The honor was first bestowed on Ellen Stratton in 1960.
But just like when it comes to Playboy magazine, you probably aren't here to read an article. Check out some photos of Summers from the luncheon below:
