Army Wives actress Kim Delaney was pulled off the stage at an event honoring U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in Philadelphia Thursday, after she fumbled through a speech she was trying to read from the teleprompter.

Delaney's speech -- which was one part unintelligible, one part shockingly innappropriate -- went on for nearly two excruciating minutes before event officials intervened, and a woman in a headset came on to the stage and swiftly removed the actress, who appeared a bit surprised but was compliant.

Delaney appeared rather disheveled, and rambled on about how she had served in active military duty family for five years, and attended numerous military funerals, including that of my best friend's son. The audience was confused into silence, and Delaney eventually qualified the claims by saying she was referring to her Army Wives character's military experience, which was make believe. (A video of the speech with clear audio can be found in a People magazine article.)

The former NYPD Blue star has had problems with alcohol in the past. In 2002, she was arrested in Malibu on drunk driving charges after a witness to her erratic driving called 911.

Included below the video of the flubbed speech from Thursday's Liberty Medal Ceremony and Gala is a 2009 interview where Delaney is in a questionable state of mind.
