Kova
“Kova” is an upcoming side-scrolling action RPG by Black Hive. Kickstarter

Black Hive Media’s sci-fi side-scrolling RPG, “Kova,” is already live on Kickstarter. And for players interested in backing the game, the developer has specified which tiers will have access to the playable demo that will launch once the campaign is funded.

According to Black Hive Media, the early demo will only be available to backers at the Informer and higher tiers. The demo is launching with the splash screen as well as the first world mission, so it basically gives players an introduction to what’s in store for them when the game officially releases.

Sadly, backers in the Supporter and Mercenary - Early Bird tiers will not have access to the playable demo. The Supporter tier is for players who are pledging $5 or more, and they’ll only be getting PC and mobile wallpapers. As for the Mercenary - Early Bird tier who are pledging $15 or more, they’ll get a digital copy of the game and their names will be in the credits as backers.

Players who are pledging $25 or more already belong to the Informer tier, and members of this tier up to the Architect tier (pledge of $7,500 or more) will be getting a copy of the early demo. The Kickstarter project’s goal is $28,000. It’s only been a day since the campaign went live and it already has 119 backers pledging $3,424. The project is scheduled to run until April 27, but the moment the crowdfunding goal is achieved the demo will be made available to the Informer and upper tier backers.

In “Kova,” players assume the role of a mercenary-explorer named Kova who is on an adventure in a galaxy filled with larger-than-life characters and hand-painted planets. Kova is out to get the answer to the greatest mystery in the universe - “Why has humanity never encountered intelligent alien life?”

The backstory of the game reads: “As humans ventured further out to colonize planets and expand their reach, the galaxy fell into turmoil. With the incredible resources that were discovered and mined on planets outside of the original solar system, they were able to advance their technology tenfold — and their weaponry didn't stray behind either.”
