Reality TV star Kylie Jenner turned 18 on Aug. 10, and she already feels a big difference in the way that she is being treated. However, she feels that turning into an adult should not necessarily lie strictly on the date of birth.

“Age is just a number,” said Kylie in an interview with Galore Magazine. She explained that her lifestyle made her grow up a lot faster. As part of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Kylie spent the last 10 years of her life in front of the camera. Being on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” also meant that she had a lot of her own money, much earlier than many other teenagers, or even adults.

She has been subjected to public scrutiny even before she hit puberty. Every single social media post and change in her appearance instantly gave birth to numerous speculations about her life. One big issue that has plagued her in recent years has been her relationship with 25-year-old rapper Tyga. The pair started being seen together when Kylie was only 17 and Tyga received a lot of criticism because Kylie was underage.

“It just makes no sense that, even a month ago, people were complaining that I was too young to be doing certain things,” she continued. After her birthday last month, she said that she immediately felt a difference with the way people see her. “Now people are just okay with it because I’m grown. I don’t know why that one day made such a difference, but it really does change things for people,” she ended.

As if to prove a point, Kylie starred in a music video for her boyfriend Tyga, which was released just weeks after her 18th birthday. In the video for the song "Stimulated," they show off a lot of PDA and openly kiss for the first time.

Kylie’s older sister Khloe Kardashian, also came to her defense. In an interview with Complex magazine, she said that her sister is a special case. Unlike other 17-year-olds, Kylie already bought herself a house. She also has several business ventures and is already rubbing elbows with industry bigwigs.

Ironically, Kylie told Galore that if she had a choice, she would prefer to just act like a kid and enjoy life.

“I wish I could be 17 for the rest of my life. I don’t want to get any older. I just want to be young and enjoy it,” she said.
