"We check in on each other occasionally. Obviously, [there are] some things that we need to talk about like if he gets a package to our house or mail. So, friendly terms — yes," Bushnell told Us Weekly. "It’s not like talking every day or not a lot of small talk. It’s just checking in and making sure we’re OK, but then we also are giving each other the space that we both need to move forward."

She also confessed that building their relationship in the public eye wasn't ideal for her, claiming its caused her "stress."

"I do think that it caused some different stresses in our relationship than we would have had if we were in a normal relationship. It doesn’t mean there would have been different stresses if we didn’t mean on a reality show," she continued. "Every relationship has its ups and downs and mountains that you have to climb together. I think the reality TV one is just very unique. Anything in the public eye is going to be hard. You have a million opinions, but I don’t think that we ever let that cloud our point of view or cloud our relationship. At least we tried really hard not to."

As Bushnell began to cope with her split from Higgins, she received support from Jojo Fletcher. According to a separate report from Us Weekly, Fletcher contacted Bushnell when the news broke.

"She texted me the day that the news or whatever broke just to check in, which I thought was really nice," Bushnell told Us Weekly Thursday. "We talked a little bit."

Bushnell has been more vocal about the split. However, People magazine notes Higgins did address his previous relationship with "Bachelor" alum Ashley Iaconetti on their iHeartRadio podcast, "The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast."

"Just to be as politically correct as possible but to also be as truthful as possible, Lauren will always be one of my best friends," Higgins said. "It's tough. It’s hard to say goodbye to somebody that you spent so much time with and it’s hard to say goodbye to somebody that you really did believe was the one for you."

He then shared he's "doing alright," despite feeling sad over the breakup.

Bushnell and Higgins announced their split in May. The couple that met on Higgins' season of the "Bachelor" were together for a year.

Chris Harrison, the host of all shows within the "Bachelor" franchise, spoke with Mario Lopez on his radio show, "On With Mario," in May about the reality television star's failed relationship.

"I know that they have struggled with the show and then kind of continuing on and doing their reality show and kind of where the show stopped and then where life began," Harrison told Lopez. "So I know they were fighting through a bunch of stuff...I do care about them very much."
