Years after their divorce, Dean Sheremet is finally discussing the cheating scandal that ended his seven-year marriage to singer LeAnn Rimes. The pair, who wed in 2002, split after Sheremet learned that his wife has been cheating on him with Eddie Cibrian, now her husband. Cibrian was, at the time, married to Brandi Glanville, who currently stars on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

Glanville has spoken openly about Eddie’s infidelity numerous times on her hit Bravo reality series, frequently chronicling their battle over child support. But this interview marks the first time Sheremet has given his side.

The former dancer, who was reportedly blindsided by the scandal, says though the affair is what officially ended the marriage, it was doomed long before Rimes and Cibrian met. Sheremet says he began resenting his Grammy-winning wife and felt he often had to sacrifice more than her to make the relationship work.

“I was a professional dancer. She was a superstar. I knew that one of us had to sacrifice something to have a healthy marriage. And that was my goal. As much as I wanted to be successful, I wanted my family more,” he told Nat’s Next Adventure. “I’ve always wanted to be married and have kids. Family is everything to me.”

According to E!, Sheremet felt he was being forced to stifle his creative growth for the sake of their failing relationship. The pent-up feelings lead to frequent fights and bitter feelings toward one another. He says he gave up his dreams to spend as much time as possible with his wife, who was frequently away on tour.

“I have my own dreams and goals and I felt like there wasn’t room for me. But it was the only way I felt I could have a successful marriage. How could she be on the road and I be in L.A. eight months out of the year and still consider ourselves a healthy marriage? Unfortunately, I swung the pendulum completely back the other way and we went eight years without spending a day apart. And it worked!” he added.

While that worked for a time, no amount of togetherness could mend the relationship. The current chef, who once managed his ex’s career, admits it wasn’t all her fault, though. He says looking back, his trouble separating his role as Rimes’ boss from being her husband likely helped push her away from him and into Cibrian's arms.

“I was so intertwined in managing her career that I didn’t know how to make the distinction between husband and boss,” he explained.

“Unfortunately, I think the business ended up destroying us. That passion for our marriage wasn’t there. The person that I needed to be, the person that I should have been, I wasn’t. I wasn’t the person she came home to and unloaded on. And, then, of course, I was thinking, I haven’t done what I’ve wanted to do in over eight years,” he added. “I came to the realization that my name was never going to be on the marquee. No matter how much I put into this show or that tour, it was never going to be about me.”

Still, it’s not his ex Sheremet remains angry with, but Cibrian.

“I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw this f**king table,” he said before calling him “a total schmoozer” and “very Hollywood.”

Similarly, Glanville has nothing but ill to say about Cibrian. Although rather than just walk away, the reality TV star sought revenge. According to Daily Mail, after getting the news, Glanville hit him where it hurt, slashing the tires of his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles.

“I got a knife, and I went out to the garage. I just took it to both of his Harleys,” she said in an interview with Glamour magazine. “I hated those bikes – my dad almost died in a motorcycle accident. I had never wanted Eddie on them, because we had children. I slashed all of the tires, and it felt so good.”

Rimes has not commented on any of the claims made in Sheremet’s interview.
