At least 26 people have died and many other wounded after a clash between fans of rival Egyptian football teams in Port Said.

Al Jazeera reported that supporters of the victorious al-Masry team ran on the field following a game with the country’s top club al-Ahly, Egypt's top team, was over.

Fans reportedly chased players around the field and attacked supporters of the opposing team, throwing rocks and bottles at them/

The two teams have a long history of conflict, Al Jazeera indicated, with clashes frequently erupting between their fans.
