LG Electronics Inc <066570.KS> said it is gaining share in the U.S. television market and that mobile phones have been key to increasing the South Korean company's brand recognition last year.

We hope to continue to grow in market share in 2010, and we think that LED (TV) connectivity will help that, Jim Shadd, head of LG's U.S. unit, told reporters after a news conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

LG unveiled a 6.9-millimeter thick LED TV as part of its LED TV lineup, while it said it would put wireless high-definition multimedia interface connectors on more of its models.

LG Chief Technology Officer Woo Paik conducted a Skype video call via TV at the briefing, demonstrating its capabilities.

Executives said after the event that LG will give guidance in the Spring on the price of an upcoming 3D TV to be sold in the United States.
