Real Madrid, with the phenomenal Cristiano Ronaldo in their side, will start as favorites, although the Spanish giants will be facing by far their toughest opponents in the competition so far.

Bayern Munich can boast the Champions League's second top scorer in Mario Gomez combined with an impressive supporting cast of Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller.

As far as the lineups go for tonight's match, the main news is that Bayern manager Juup Heynckes has selected Bastain Schweinsteiger alongside Toni Kroos and Luiz Gustavo in midfield. The surprise omission from the side is German international Thomas Muller, with Heynckes seemingly opting for a more defensive formation.

For Real Madrid, boss Jose Mourinho has decided to select the fit again Angel Di Maria out wide, with Karim Benzema chosen to lead the line. The disappointed parties will be Gonzalo Higuain and Kaka, although both could have an important role to play from what is a talented substitute's bench.
