‘Lucifer’
Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer) will return to “Lucifer” Season 3 as her real self and not as Mom. Fox

“Lucifer” Season 3 will see the return of Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer) in episode 4.

The official title for the upcoming installment has just been announced by Fox. “Welcome Back, Charlotte Richards” was written by Chris Rafferty and directed by Nathan Hope.

Last week, Rafferty teased his return to the set of “Lucifer” Season 3 by uploading a photo of himself with Helfer. By the looks of it, episode 4 was filmed last week. Since there are approximately 22 episodes for Season 3, the production for the series will continue in the next several months.

In the finale episode for Season 2, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) asked his mom to return to Heaven. Since she only possessed the body of a mortal woman last season, the real Charlotte woke up at the beach, dazed and confused about why she was there. Avid fans of Charlotte and Helfer were concerned about the character’s fate since Lucifer’s mom is no longer with him in Los Angeles.

But in May, executive producer Joe Henderson spoke with Buddy TV and dished on the fate of both Lucifer’s mom and the real Charlotte. “The only thing I’ll say is Charlotte Richards is breathing at the end of the finale. When it comes to Mom, we’ll see. She’s a great character and archetype. The question just becomes as we figure things out what story we have, right now, she’s off in her own world and building her own things. I’m sure it’s something we’ll probably come back to at some point,” he said.

In the same month, Helfer confirmed her return for “Lucifer” Season 3 as the real Charlotte. One fan asked the actress if she will be leaving the show next season, and Helfer quickly replied that she will still be in the upcoming episodes. However, it is unclear what Lucifer and the real Charlotte’s relationship will be like, since the latter most likely doesn’t remember anything from the recent events. But Lucifer will feel obliged to give the real Charlotte an explanation about how she was possessed by Mom and got linked to Dan (Kevin Alejandro).

“Lucifer” Season 3 will premiere on Fox on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. EDT.
