First-time mom Peta Murgatroyd just revealed how she keeps her son with Maks Chmerkovskiy safe from the physical dangers lurking inside their home. The pro dancer has also teased that more updates about her 9-month-old son are coming soon.

On Saturday, Murgatroyd, 31, took to Instagram to share an adorable video of little Shai Aleksander. In the clip, the toddler can be seen wandering around the kitchen with the intention of opening some drawers. However, Shai ends up shrieking when he finds out that it’s impossible for him to pull open the drawers.

In the caption, Murgatroyd revealed that she has started to child-proof their home to ensure that her first child is spared from getting hurt or injured. “Someone help him… the drawers now don’t open. #childproofing has begun …to be continued,” she wrote.

It should not come as a surprise that Murgatroyd is giving her all in taking care of baby Shai. In an interview with People last June, she said, “I’m looking forward to nurturing something and just having the baby be the center of our world. I’m looking forward to putting all our energy into this beautiful soul.”

Aside from the hands-on mom, the Chmerkovskiy brothers also enjoy keeping Shai company. Just last month, 37-year-old Maks was a proud father to the tyke after the latter managed to crawl up the stairs. “We’re 8 months today, but I swear this kid is already stronger and smarter than some grown ups I know. Keep climbing my son,” he wrote at the time.

Meanwhile, Uncle Val is also involved in nurturing Shai. In fact, the 31-year-old may be the first ballroom dance instructor of the young Chmerkovskiy as shown in an adorable Instagram post Maks shared last July. In the video, Val can be seen teaching Shai some moves while Maks carries the half-naked little boy in his hands.

Maks and Murgatroyd tied the knot in early July at Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York. They welcomed their son Shai on Jan. 4 this year. In a statement released following the birth of their first child, the happy couple said, “This is, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to us!”
