If the reports are to be believed, Premiership champions Manchester United are preparing themselves to face a shocking £70-million offer from La Liga giants Real Madrid for the English club's most celebrated and star striker Wayne Rooney.

The Spanish club believes that an offer such as £70 million will be very hard to resist by United's American owners, the Glazers, and the club will think twice before rejecting such a lucrative offer for letting their most prized possession go. Although it is unlikely that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will sanction such an audacious bid, United have a history of letting their players go in favor of Real's big bids. The release of players like David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo is a proof of that.

Rooney, last season, brewed up a storm in the club when he became a reason for bother both on and off the field, and expressed his desires to leave the club. The situation was later under control when Sir Alex held emergency talks with Wazza and convinced him to stay back at the club by offering him a new and improved deal that made Rooney confirm his commitment towards the club.

Real are currently sitting on top of La Liga and have scored an amazing 46 goals in just 13 games, according to a footybunker.com report.
