Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan announced Sunday they will meet each other in the ring on April 23 as the Philippine fighter will defend his welterweight title. The news comes weeks after Pacquiao asked his fans to pick a fighter from Khan, Kell Brook, Jeff Horn and Terence Crawford for his next bout set to be held in the United Arab Emirates.

Khan has participated in 35 fights, of which he won 31 — 19 by knockouts and 12 by decision. The 30-year-old of England had been eyeing for long to fight against either Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather.

Earlier, reports surfaced that Pacquiao was working on a deal to fight April 22 against Australia's Horn in Brisbane.

Pacquiao, who currently serves as a senator in the Philippines, participated in 67 fights, of which he won 59 — 38 by knockouts and 21 by decision — while two of the matches went draw. He is boxing's only eight-division world titleholder.

Khan last fought in May when he moved up two weight classes from welterweight and challenged then-middleweight world champion, Canelo Alvarez. However, Khan was knocked out in the sixth round at the catchweight of 155 pounds.

The 38-year-old Pacquiao, a six-time world champion, retired last April but made a successful comeback against Jessie Vargas in Las Vegas in November. Pacquiao initially said he was retiring to focus on his new role as a Philippine senator, but after his return to the ring, the champion said that he still felt like a youngster.

Pacquiao currently has an estimated net worth of $250 million, and his lifetime earnings make him the second-highest paid boxer, according to the Richest. Khan has a net worth of $30 million and charges more than $1.6 million per fight, in addition to a share of TV rights.
