Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon may be on the brink of divorce. Breakup rumors have plagued the couple for months now, and they recently sold their three-acre Bel Air, Los Angeles, property for $10 million after purchasing the home together in 2009 for $7 million.

Aside from selling their home, they apparently have not been on the best of terms. “He hasn’t been staying at their home,” a source told the New York Post. “He’s been living out of hotels. They’re fighting a lot.” Carey, who is active on Instagram, has mainly been posting photos of herself and their twins, Monroe and Moroccan, with Cannon nowhere in sight.

One reason for strife could be Cannon’s alleged wayward eye. The 33-year-old hosts NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” and Carey reportedly hired a security guard for him during his gigs in Las Vegas. The guard was not necessarily to keep women away from Cannon, but rather to “keep him away from the girls,” reports RadarOnline.

The pair allegedly did not even celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary in March, and are barely in public together. To add fuel to the fire, when Carey attended the New York premiere of the film “Hercules” last month, she was escorted by her business associate Kevin Liles, instead of Cannon.

Why have they not divorced yet? According to OK! Magazine, it is because of money. "Mariah'd cut him loose right now. But she's worried about him making a grab for a huge chunk of her $515 million fortune," a source says.

"Nick feels burned that Mariah is ready to pull the plug. They have a pre-nup, but after Nick tells his side of the story, Mariah will most likely settle with him financially and realize her once-beautiful marriage has evaporated."

Carey and Cannon began dating in 2008 before making their relationship public. They wed within two months of their first date, and used to renew their vows every year. Cannon is said to be shocked about Carey wanting to end their marriage.
