MAFS first year jason cortney
Jason and Cortney took a trip to Vegas in "Married At First Sight: The First Year" episode 7. FYI

“Married At First Sight: The First Year” Season 1, episode 7 showed both husbands are committed to their wives. Both planned to propose to their wives for the first time. Neither got to propose initially because “Married At First Sight” Season 1 paired them, introducing the couples at the altar. Even though they did a few things backwards, the couples still want to show their commitment. Unfortunately, one husband didn’t get the response he was looking for.

Doug and Jamie

Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner celebrated New Year’s Eve in the city. When Doug asked his wife what she wanted to do next New Year’s Eve, she said, “Be pregnant.”

While he still wasn’t ready for fatherhood, Doug was ready to show Jamie he is committed to her. Doug revealed he wanted to live all the moments they missed out on by getting married the day they met.

“I’ve always wanted to get down on one knee and propose to my wife. I didn’t get that chance,” Doug said. “I want to do something special. I want a ring that’s going to be my ring that I bought and I’m going to surprise Jamie by proposing to her.”

Doug brought his sister Lyndsay to help him pick out a ring. The saleswoman first brought out rings worth more than $100,000, but Doug had to set a price a limit. It looks like he won’t have his proposal figured out until next week though.

Monet

Monet Bell’s friend Deunta came to town to visit her during New Year’s. They live far from each other, so they didn’t get together often. He was younger, but she still had strong feelings for him.

While discussing resolutions and accomplishments, Monet told him her favorite part of 2014 was filing for divorce. “It was an opportunity for me to know I was ready to be happy and ready to move forward,” she admitted.

The cameras didn't show much of her night with Deunta, but hopefully she'll reveal the juicy details while talking to one of the wives next week.

Cortney and Jason

After their blowout fight last week, Jason Carrion talked to a friend about his trouble with Cortney Hendrix. He wanted to do something for her. He finally had some time off from work and wanted to take Cortney to Las Vegas. He wanted to bring a bunch of their friends and renew their vows.

Cortney was fine with the idea of the vacation, but Jason didn’t tell her about the wedding. He only said they would have their bachelor and bachelorette parties.

“I want him to have a bachelor party, just like I want to have a bachelorette party, but is it the best thing to go to Vegas to spend more time apart?” Cortney asked the cameras.

Cortney warned her husband anything he did with his friends, she would do with hers. She was a bit worried about her husband and his friends. None of the boys previously had been to Las Vegas.

Spending the first days of the year with her friends was a much-needed break for Cortney. She felt like she hadn’t had as much fun since getting married, and she wanted to be the life of the party. “I need to get back to being me,” Cortney said.

While Cortney danced the night away with her friends, Jason won $4,000 and then lost it within five minutes. After getting drunk, he tried to set up his friend with a woman they met. His plan failed because the woman was married.

After a drunken night, Jason convinced his hungover wife they should do something romantic the next day. He brought her to the Eiffel Tower replica and suggested they have another wedding while in Vegas.

“Um, why?” Cortney asked.

“I think it would kind of bring us closer together, like, revisiting that,” Jason said.

Unfortunately, Cortney wasn’t very excited about the idea. “I don’t see the point in renewing, getting remarried, doing any of this right now or in Vegas,” Cortney told the cameras. “We’re not in the spot where I want us to be in order for me to get excited about essentially being proposed to.”

Jason was hurt she didn’t want to renew their vows. Cortney revealed one of the reasons she was turning him down was because she wanted to go home to North Carolina. “I feel like one of the reasons we’re struggling right now is that I cracked completely … and I don’t feel like you can help me because you don’t know me well enough yet," she admitted.

Cortney said she needed to start putting herself first and that involved taking a break. She didn’t feel like she was a priority in Jason’s life, and she felt like her family could help her get through this.

“Married At First Sight: The First Year” Season 1 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on FYI. Do you think Cortney should take a break from Jason and go home or should she stick around? Sound off in the comments section below!
