One McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) branch in Fullerton, Calif., is winging it by testing out a chicken and waffle combination, according to food news site Foodbeast.

Foodbeast credited the following tweet:

The combination exploits the new Mighty Wings offering, which McDonald’s rolled out nationwide earlier this month. But the so-called "waffles" are actually McGriddle pancakes. The pair is priced at $3.99.

It’s unclear if this will remain an isolated experiment, however.

A McDonald’s spokeswoman told Nation's Restaurant News earlier that the menu item is not being tested on a wide scale.

“This was simply one franchisee who experimented with a limited-time offering of his version of chicken and waffles,” the spokeswoman said.

McDonald’s is not alone among other fast food giants, however.

Earlier in 2013, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen tested out a Chicken Waffle Tenders offer. In other food combinations, Burger King Worldwide Inc. (NYSE:BKW) debuted its $1 French Fry Burger on Sept. 1, hoping to compete with the McDonald’s $1 value menu.
