Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said something unintentionally brilliant during the Republican presidential debate in Las Vegas Tuesday night, saying, in essence, that Libya was not in the continent of Africa.

Bachmann was criticizing President Barack Obama's decision to send 100 U.S. troops to Uganda to help that country and its neighbors fight the brutal Lord's Resistance Army. The LRA's reign of terror has displaced nearly 400,000 people.

Now with the president, he put us in Libya, Bachmann said in the debate broadcast on CNN. He is now putting us in Africa. We already were stretched too thin, and he put our special operations forces in Africa.

Libya, of course, is in Africa.

Bachmann, of course, is known for her record of -- let's just say, interesting -- statements. This one immediately became a trending topic on Twitter as Libya is in Africa.
