The US first lady will don a cameo role in the upcoming episode of Nickelodeon's popular comedy series iCarly. The episode is written specifically for Michelle, and is likely to be aired in January. Michelle's guest appearance is in order to promote the Joining Forces initiative.

The comedy series, which stars Miranda Cosgrove, is a show about a webcast produced by a teen named Carly and her best friends Sam (a girl, wacky) and Freddie (a boy, techie). Michelle chose the show, for promotion of an initiative to support military personnel and their families, because Carly's dad is a military officer who is never around owing to him being engaged with important work.

iCarly would thus join the league of 'Sesame Street', 'The Gayle King Show', and Oprah Winfrey's now-defunct daytime talk show, by having the first lady as guest.
