Microsoft has announced students who buy a new PC for $699 or more will get a free Xbox 360 4GB console.

Starting May 22, the offer will be open to online shoppers who purchase a PC from HP (Hewlett-Packard), Dell or Microsoft’s online stores in US. For those who will choose retail dealers can find the same offer at Best Buy or Microsoft’s stores, said the company in a blog.

The only condition Microsoft puts forward is the students will need to have .edu e-mail address to acquire the free Xbox console. If the students do not have such an address, they can present their student IDs at the retail stores.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 4GB console currently costs $200. The hardware consists of in-built Wi-Fi and comes with a black wireless controller. For extra storage, students will need to buy a hard drive separately.

Microsoft said they will be starting the same offers in France and Canada soon.
