For a second day on Saturday, the body of the deposed Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi was shown to the public. However, the Libyan force, guarding the body in a cold storage room, covered up the wounds that may hold the clue to how he died.

On Friday, hundreds of members of the public flocked into the cold room in which Gadhafi's body was laid on a mattress. But on Saturday, his body was covered by a blanket, leaving only his head exposed. The bruises on his torso and scratch marks on his chest were hidden.

In earlier photos, a bullet hole was seen on the left side of his face. But on Saturday, his head was turned to the left so that the bullet hole could no longer be seen, Reuters reported.

The people who came to see the body of the man, who ruled Libya for 42 years, were given green surgical masks as the room was filled with the stench of rotting flesh.

Clue to His Death

According to Reuters, the wounds in Gadhafi's body, including the bullet hole in his head, could be helpful in solving the puzzle of whether he was shot in crossfire in a battle or he was killed by the fighters who captured him.

A local military commander in the city of Misrata told Reuters that when the over-enthusiastic fighters came face to face with the man they hated the most, they took matters into their own hands. We wanted to keep him alive but the young guys, things went out of control, he said.

Gadhafi was Alive When He was Captured

As testified by the gritty mobile phone footage, Gadhafi was alive when he was caught hiding in a storm drain outside his hometown of Sirte. But the events leading to his death were chaotic, brutal and gruesome.

Gadhafi was pulled onto the bonnet of a Toyota pick-up truck. At that moment, Gadhafi was heard in one video saying God forbids this several times, according to a Reuters report.

This is for Misrata, you dog, said one of the fighters slapping him.

Do you know right from wrong? Gaddafi said.

Shut up you dog, another man replied as blows from the crowd rained down on Gadhafi's head.
