“Modern Family” Season 8 has tapped NBA vets DeAndre Jordan and Charles Barkley to guest star in an upcoming episode.

The professional athletes will be appearing in an episode that will air at the end of January 2017. In the installment, Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) will be participating in a basketball tournament at a charity event. Throughout the entire year, Phil has been training ever since he failed to impress in the previous event. However, the patriarch will be more pressured than ever when he sees how good and involved Jordan and Barkley are in the game.

Meanwhile, the upcoming ninth episode of “Modern Family” Season 8 will see Manny (Rico Rodriguez) and Luke (Nolan Gould) organizing a lavish winter dance at school. Their respective families will also be volunteering at the party so some friction can be expected. Jay (Ed O’Neill) will try to drop out of the event by pretending to want to spend time with Phil. However, his plan will backfire since he and Phil don’t necessarily have the best relationship.

Also in “Snow Ball,” Claire (Julie Bowen) and Gloria (Sofia Vergara) will set up their friend Marjorie (Vanessa Bayer) with the school principal. Elsewhere, Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) will also participate at the school event, but will realize how much of a bully he was growing up. With this, Mitchell will try to seek some guidance from his relatives and friends.

In other news, the cast of “Modern Family” Season 8 are already on break from filming for their upcoming episodes. Just recently, cast member Ariel Winter sat down for an interview with Elle. She shared a photo from the spread via her Instagram account.

Meanwhile, her co-star Sarah Hyland has been spending time at home with her adorable kitten, Rajah.

“Modern Family” Season 8, episode 9 will air on ABC on Dec. 14 at 8:30 p.m. EST.
