Motorola could be seeing less potential suitors for the handset business it is considering selling.

Network equipment maker 3Com cancelled its plans to bring an outside investor to help with the purchase.

Motorola has not yet received a public bid for the unit.

Analysts had anticipated possible bidders such as Chinese firms Huawei Technologies Co Ltd or ZTE Corp. However they failed to win approval from the Treasury division which reviews corporate deals with foreign firms.

U.S. lawmakers had raised concerns that Huawei had links to China's military.
