“Nashville” just keeps rolling out new promo videos. The full Season 5 trailer (above) was revealed Thursday, but another promo video was released Friday. This one doesn’t have any new footage, but the video seems to tease what’s next for our favorite duos.

The clip starts with Deacon (Charles Esten) brooding, but he smiles when he sees Rayna (Connie Britton). It seems like they’re fine, and the video cuts away to other couples. However, the promo ends with Rayna and Deacon again. The country superstar starts to look sad before she turns away from her husband. Watch the promo video below:

Does this hint at trouble for Rayna and Deacon? It’s hard to say, but Thursday’s trailer didn’t seem to tease happiness for them either. It seemed like the two were fighting. Deacon looks confused as he wakes up in bed alone, and Rayna seems to tell her husband she doesn’t want to fall into another trap with him.

The synopsis for “Nashville” Season 5 also revealed that Rayna will “on a journey of discovery” after learning about Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) plane crash. Will her discoveries make her leave Deacon?

Of course, the promo could be foreshadowing Rayna’s departure. As previously reported, Britton only signed on to be in about half of the 22-episode season. It isn’t clear how the CMT drama will handle her absence.

Co-showrunner Marshall Herskovitz hasn’t addressed how the show could possibly write Britton out, but he did note that Rayna and Deacon’s scenes were exciting to write. “The idea of what it means to be married has always been interesting to us — what are the dynamics, their individual triggers, how do they resolve conflict?” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s endlessly fascinating to talk about two adults trying to be in a relationship to each other, so that’s been really fun for us and for the actors to go deeper in that way.”

The “Nashville” promo also teases some other duos. While Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) seem fine, Juliette and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) look like they’re going to have some trouble getting back on track. It also seems Maddie (Lennon Stella) is leaving her sister Daphne (Maisy Stella) behind again.

“Nashville” fans will get a sneak peek at all the upcoming drama when CMT airs the first half of the two-hour premiere on Thursday, Dec. 15.

“Nashville” Season 5 officially premieres Thursday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. EST on CMT.
