The Los Angeles Clippers on Monday traded All-Star forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons in arguably the biggest deal ahead of the upcoming Feb. 8 trade deadline.

The trade was first reported by ESPN's NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Clippers sent Griffin, Brice Johnson and Willie Reed to the Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic, a first-round pick in 2018 and a second-round draft pick in 2019, according to Wojnarowski.

The Clippers are currently seeded 9th in the Western Conference. They were defeated last season by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs. The Pistons, meanwhile, are in 9th place in the Eastern Conference.

After spending his entire career playing alongside athletic big man DeAndre Jordan, Griffin will now play alongside center Andre Drummond. Drummond leads the league in rebounding (15.1), and is closely followed behind by Jordan (14.8).

Griffin, a five-time All-Star, is averaging 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists in 33 games this season. The Clippers drafted Griffin in 2009 with the first pick in the NBA draft. During the offseason, Griffin and the Clippers reached an agreement on a five-year, $173 million contract.

On Tuesday, the Clippers face the Portland Trail Blazers, while the Pistons play the Cleveland Cavaliers.
