CBS’ “NCIS” is back! Several months after airing the Season 13 finale, TV’s most watched drama will return today with the Season 14 premiere. So, what happened the last time Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team solved a case? Well, they said teary goodbyes to Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly).
Here is a quick recap of “NCIS” Season 13, episode 24 to help you jog your memory:
Ziva Is Dead … But Her Daughter Is Alive
The team received confirmation that Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) is, in fact, dead after rogue agent Trent Kort (David Dayan Fisher) bombed her farmhouse in Israel. DiNozzo is, understandably, devastated. But his day is about to get more complicated.
Mossad Director Orli Elbaz (Marina Sirtis) lands in the United States with the only survivor from the bombing – Ziva and Tony’s daughter, Tali.
Named after Ziva’s deceased sister, DiNozzo quickly morphs into a loving father and starts to take care of his child. The father-daughter scenes certainly bought tears to several “NCIS” fans.
Of course, Weatherly’s character soon realizes the inevitable: He can’t be an agent and a single dad. He can try to be both, but Tali has now no family and DiNozzo is everything she’s got.
Lots Of Teary Goodbyes
Since this was Weatherly’s last episode, DiNozzo shared teary goodbyes with all members of the team – Bishop (Emily Wickersham), Abby (Pauley Perrette), McGee (Sean Murray), Ducky (David McCallum), Vance (Rocky Carroll) Palmer (Brian Dietzen) – and even got a hug from Gibbs. It was all tissues on deck.
But before DiNozzo heads to Israel for answers and then to Paris with his little daughter, he avenged Ziva’s death and Fornell’s (Joe Spano) fatal injuries. The gang located Kort who claims he had no idea someone was even in the farmhouse. He maintains that it was strictly business.
Kort reaches for his gun and is greeted by a barrage of bullets coming from each and every NCIS agent in the room. Revenge never tasted sweeter.
Fornell Is O.K.
Fornell may be alive, but he has a long road to recovery ahead.
“NCIS” Season 14 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
