Apart from the brand new iPad Pro, Apple also introduced a refreshed version of the Mini 3 in the form of “iPad Mini 4” on Wednesday. While the new iPad Pro was apparently introduced as "the biggest news in iPad since iPad," the Apple Mini 4 did not get enough prime time as it has not gone through any over-the-top design changes when compared to the predecessor. Here is an overview of the differences and similarities pertaining to the iPad Mini 4 and iPad Mini 3.

Apple iPad Mini 4 vs. Mini 3: Differences

The iPad Mini 4 tablet comes with the power and performance aspects of the bigger iPad Air 2 from 2014, The Verge reported. Under the hood, the new slate comes powered by an Apple A8 processor, in place of the A7 seen in the Mini 3. The iOS version has been bumped from 8 to 9 in the new tablet.

The refreshed iPad Mini 4 specifications also include the size change. The new device weighs only 0.65 pounds and it is 6.1 mm thick. In comparison, the Wi-Fi-only variant of the iPad Mini 3 weighs 0.73 pounds, along with a thickness of 7.5 mm. Moreover, the rear-facing camera unit has been improved from 5-megapixel in the Mini 3 to 8-megapixel in the Mini 4.

The iPad Mini 4, which will reportedly replace the predecessor iPad Mini 3, will apparently cost $399 (Wi-Fi only) and $529 (cellular). The iPad Mini 2 has reportedly gone through a price cut, and therefore it can be availed for only $269.
